Technical Writer - Aviation

If you are a Technical Writer with airline technical writing and task card creation experience, please read on!

Authoring, revising, and publishing maintenance task cards, technical manuals and other technical work instructions in support of development and management of aircraft maintenance and reliability programs for multiple operator clients and fleet types. Supporting the team’s efforts in identifying maintenance program improvement opportunities. Supporting organizational metrics and continuous improvement initiatives related to maintenance and reliability programs. Maintaining thorough and consistent client communication and support to ensure satisfactory delivery of agreed product suite.

Primary responsibilities include:
1.Direct authoring and creation of content and revisions for customer technical documents to include: Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM), Illustrated Parts Catalogues (IPC), Wiring Diagram Manuals (WDM), Fault Isolation Manuals (FIM), Structural Repair Manuals (SRM), Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM), Client Procedure Manuals (e.g. GMM, GOM, etc.), and other technical and company manuals as identified by the customer.
2.Working with Engineers and Maintenance Programs and Reliability Analyst(s) to ensure instructions for continuing airworthiness are incorporated into the appropriate maintenance program specifications
3.Implementation of changes to the maintenance program and ICA documents in conjunction with the Maintenance Programs and Reliability Analyst(s) and Engineering

Team functions and duties for which you may share in accomplishing include, but are not limited to:

1.Management of the Time Limitations Manual of multiple fleet types
2.Communication with regulators and provide substantiating data for approval of changes to aircraft maintenance programs
3.Publication and distribution of Technical Manuals to customers and authorized recipients

Desired Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
•FAA A&P License or equivalent level of experience.
•Previous part 121 technical writing experience
•Experience authoring and processing airline technical work documents
•Ability to provide technical support to the clients and regulators
•Ability to travel
•Excellent analytical skills
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe applications

Preferred Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline or equivalent technical experience
•Minimum of 2 years Part 121 airline maintenance/engineering experience
•Working knowledge of transport category ETOPS programs, aircraft Maintenance Review Board (MRB) documents and Maintenance Planning Documents (MPD)
•Proficiency in airline MRO IT systems (TRAX, Ultramain, PMI, Sceptre, etc.)
•Proficiency in publications systems for aircraft technical manuals and work documents (Adobe FrameMaker, Jouve/InfoTrust, Enigma, XML authoring tools, etc.)
